Anauru Bay is situated on the East Coast south of Tokomaru
Bay and north of Tolaga Bay (north of Gisborne). We stayed two nights at the
Anauru Bay Recreation Reserve—it’s a DOC campsite, one of the few that allow
dogs (on leads).
The campsite was a large flat paddock right next to the
beach with so much space; we only had a few others share the place with us
while we were there. The campground reminded me a little of Simpsons Beach in
the Coromandel.
It’s a lovely sandy beach—great for swimming. Both Dave and Helen went in this time.
There were some houses near the beach, and then we came
across this cool tree house.
