Yesterday, we went for a drive along the coast. We started at Fortrose, as this was where Dave was keen to have a game of golf. We thought we'd check out the golf course . . . drove on past . . . and found this magnificent scenery!
These next three photos are just showing a similar scene, getting closer and closer.
Shags perched on top of the rock formation.
And in other places as well. Look at those big feet!
This shag was perched on a shelf of the rock structure in the following photo.
I never fail to marvel at the power of the ocean, and water and weather erosion.
These pretty little plants were growing on top of the cliff in one spot. I believe they are a New Zealand native: Alpine White Gentian.
Looking west, over the entrance to the estuary.
The estuary entrance.
Looking over the estuary towards Fortrose. There is a shipwreck visible at low tide here somewhere, but it seems the tide was not out far enough when we were there.
The wind reigns up on these cliff tops, and all the trees bow away from it.
Heading back to Fortrose, we stopped in at the golf club but no one was around. The next day, Dave arranged for a game of golf. He hasn't played for quite some time and is keen to find out if he remembers how!
